Now you might be wondering so what? I finally saw joy light up this girl’s face when she talked about caring for animals. She is so excited about her chance to work at an Animal Shelter this summer. Her smile became real. The beauty almost took my breath away. I reminded her of God’s love.

Here at the gathering at 11:45 groups are encouraged to take 15 minutes to process the day. Since this youth was here with only her chaperone, we did Final 15 together. We talked about the Good Samaritan. The discussion question for today was “Who do you find it difficult to love? And why?“ This girl replied men. As she opened up even more, she talked about being dropped off so her mother could go out on dates, she has had many men in her life and not one had ever been a really positive person to or around her. I looked at her and said, “So the image of God as a father or a man is not a good one for you huh? She shyly confided she had thought of God as a woman until her grandmother told her that was wrong. She shyly confided to me that she thought of God more like a cat now cause they love you no matter what. I wanted to cry.
